So very sorry to not follow through on what I said I would do last week.
This week, being the first 3 days back for students, has been a WHIRLWIND. I am currently working on lesson plans and presentations for the next 5 days so I will need to postpone the Almanac entries until I can get a breather.
I hope y’all are doing well!
Here’s a little focusing/grounding tip that I’ve used for myself, and in coaching recently…
Coming To Our Senses
The 5 senses mindfulness technique is an exercise that can help you become more aware of your surroundings and reduce anxiety or stress.
It involves focusing on what each of your five senses can pick up on in any given moment:
Sight: Count five things you can see
Sound: Count three things you can hear
Touch: Count four things you can touch, and notice the pressure between your feet and the floor
Smell: Close your eyes to help sharpen your attention to notice the smells in your environment
Taste: Count one thing you can taste
This is super helpful for students (OR TEACHERS) that need to keep grounded in these first few weeks of school!
I will be back to writing normal entries soon!
Thank you for your patience!
