There is no such thing as a work "life", or a home "life" for that matter.
There is but ONE life that you are living.
Live it with INTENTION.
Create a moment EVERY day to speak OUT LOUD your intention for the moment. "Today I will seek to bring people together and collaborate for success."
Live it in MEDITATION.
Don't let time fly by mindlessly. Take a moment, or a few, to meditate on what it is exactly you are feeling in the moment. Time passes through US, not the other way around. When we slow down and pause we become MORE alive and MORE alert!
Live it through CULTIVATION.
We are, by nature, creative people. We receive a HUGE brain boost when we engage in something creative. The act of creation releases dopamine, which is a natural anti-depressant. We are typically happier and more engaged in life when participating in a creative endeavor.
And finally, live with APPRECIATION and GRATITUDE.
Similarly, studies have shown that a consistent dose of gratitude regulates cortisol in the brain and tends to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. When was the last time you sat down and wrote out the things you were truly grateful for? I mean, Thanksgiving wasn't that long ago...but did you do it? The challenge here is to make sure that you don't ONLY list those happy times or good experiences. Can you, with some distance, appropriately categorize an obstacle or a challenge that you have overcome and meet it with appreciation?
So....no Virginia, there's no such thing as "work/life" balance.
There is only life....what are you going to do with it?
